Neil was not a "member' of Monty Python; more of an associate. He appeared on Do Not Adjust Your Set with the Bonzo's and one episode of season 4 of Python, before working on Holy Grail and appearing with them on stage (especially Live at the Hollywood Bowl). He certainly fit in with their absurd sensibilities.
